3 Greatest achievements
- Project lead in the semi-automation of a formerly manual process, of a £3m turnover product range. The previous assembly method relied solely on the operators’ alertness to prevent any defects from escaping, by introducing a semi-automatic assembly fixture we were able to identify and capture any defects during the initial assembly. This improved FPY from 90% to 97%.
- At a previous company, the air tank assembly cell was very inefficient, and it was identified that a large-scale improvement could be made. Through analysis of the operator workload, process and material flow, the team were able to achieve an annual saving of £80,000pa and a 6% efficiency improvement, within 5 weeks.
- Site lead in a £4m turnover product range transfer. This required management of on-site contractors and procurement of new equipment and facilities. This all had to be managed against a tight timescale and within the specified budget. The product range had to be introduced, documents prepared, and the process developed and implemented. Introduction to new site of Lean thinking and Six Sigma methodology. A company drive towards Lean manufacturing had necessitated the development of training and awareness for the production operatives. This was primarily based around Value Stream Maps, A3 Thinking and Kaizen tools.
